ÖBB Personenverkehr AG, the passengers division of Austria’s state railway, is a 100% subsidiary of ÖBB Holding AG, a public limited company, fully owned by the Austrian government.
ÖBB Personenverkehr AG is Austria’s leading passenger rail-operator, providing a dense network of high-quality, including high-speed, rail-services throughout the country.
Long-distance-trains (railjet, ICE, EuroCity, InterCity-trains, EuroNight-trains) are serving Austria´s major cities and main touristical and economical centers every hour or every 2 hours, between Vienna and Salzburg are operated two trains per hour. The international long-distance-lines are connecting Austria’s main cities with all surrounding countries in central Europe. Most international lines are operated every two hours.

Since December 2014 the new airport-link to Vienna International Airport provides direct access for air-passengers to Austria’s high-speed rail-network. Regional- and suburban services of ÖBB Personenverkehr AG are completing the transport offer for rail-travel throughout the country.

Over the past few years, the ÖBB Infrasturktur AG has upgraded the stations to improve facilities and services also at the stations, e.g. dynamic passenger information systems, barrier-free access to stations and platforms. Major stations are equipped with shopping-facilities, info-point, security-staff and free Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi: rollout ongoing).
